Without your commitment to our mission, we would be unable to do the things that we do. Please help us continue to fight America’s number 1 and number 4 causes of death, Heart Disease and Stroke.

Nearly one in three children and adolescents in the U.S. are overweight or obese. Overweight children have a 70-80 percent chance of being overweight adults. Among children today, obesity is causing a broad range of health problems including high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, asthma, sleep apnea, and elevated blood cholesterol. The American Heart Association Young Professionals are joining the efforts to fight #childhoodobesity. Besides going to research, a portion of the money we raise will be going to our AHA YP Teaching Garden Project. The AHA YPs will be working at a school in the NYC area to teach kids about healthy living through a fun, hands-on Teaching Garden. This Teaching garden will be one of many in the U.S. working to teach children in grades K-5 how to plant seeds, nurture growing plants, harvest, produce, and ultimately understand the value of good eating habits.

Whitney Lennon's Story
As a cardiologist in training, heart health is most definitely a focus and passion of mine. Through my work I have witnessed first hand the devastation heart disease can cause but also have had the unique opportunity to watch as treatment and prevention of this awful disease can turn patient's lives around and give them a second chance at life. I am currently a fellow in the Department of Cardiology in the North Shore University Hospital Long Island Jewish Health System. I am working hard to get the message about the importance of heart health out there and this ball seems like a fantastic opportunity to not only do just that but to celebrate our successes as well. Please join me in the fundraising effort for this organization.
