Without your commitment to our mission, we would be unable to do the things that we do. Please help us continue to fight America’s number 1 and number 4 causes of death, Heart Disease and Stroke.

Nearly one in three children and adolescents in the U.S. are overweight or obese. Overweight children have a 70-80 percent chance of being overweight adults. Among children today, obesity is causing a broad range of health problems including high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, asthma, sleep apnea, and elevated blood cholesterol. The American Heart Association Young Professionals are joining the efforts to fight #childhoodobesity. Besides going to research, a portion of the money we raise will be going to our AHA YP Teaching Garden Project. The AHA YPs will be working at a school in the NYC area to teach kids about healthy living through a fun, hands-on Teaching Garden. This Teaching garden will be one of many in the U.S. working to teach children in grades K-5 how to plant seeds, nurture growing plants, harvest, produce, and ultimately understand the value of good eating habits.

Jennifer Lauren Hoxter's Story

When my grandfather-my dad, David Serby, had his first stroke, my life was changed forever.
My grandfather was a very active man. I have many fond memories of my grandfather and I taking long walks and going ice skating together through his 70s.
David Serby was one of the leaders in the women's ready to wear clothing industry. He was also called Friar David Serby, as a member of the New York Friar's Club for decades. It was there they nicknamed him "golden heart" because of his legendary generosity.
His stroke was undectected by a top Manhattan hospital's ER. He then continued to have more strokes and it was too late for him to recover.
My family watched his downward spiral in horror.
In his honor, I pledge to do fundraising until better detection for strokes is achieved.
Please join me in the fundraising effort for this organization.
