Go Red for Women is crucial in driving local support to fund life saving research and to educate women. Though we have made great strides in the advancement of women's cardiovascular health, we still have far to go. We need your help now so that our mothers, sisters and daughters have a chance to fight this silent killer. By sharing a commitment to speak up, spread the word and support the research, you can help save lives.
I am proud to let you know that I have once again taken on an executive leadership role with the American Heart Association and NYC’s Go Red for Women movement. Every 80 seconds, a woman will die of heart disease or stroke, yet 80% of all these incidences are preventable with proper healthy lifestyle choices and education.
Go Red for Women is committed to ensuring women are represented in research, have access to healthy lifestyle education, and feel empowered to advocate for their health. We are working in communities around the world so that women not only understand their greatest health threat but take action to lower their risk.
Since its inception in 2004, Go Red for Women has raised over $600 million dollars to support research, education, advocacy, prevention, and awareness programs. Thanks to their work, about 90,000 fewer women are dying from heart disease and stroke each year, compared to the year 2000.
My husband Kevin passed suddenly nine and a half years ago, so this is very personal for me. I’ve chosen to take a stand, both in his memory, and for my children Catherine and Patrick, and granddaughters, Edie, Frances and Shea. I “Go Red” to set an example for everyone in my life and to encourage them take care of their well-being.
I hope you will stand alongside me and get involved.
Thank you in advance! I am truly grateful that you’ve taken a moment to consider this request.
