Go Red for Women is crucial in driving local support to fund life saving research and to educate women. Though we have made great strides in the advancement of women's cardiovascular health, we still have far to go. We need your help now so that our mothers, sisters and daughters have a chance to fight this silent killer. By sharing a commitment to speak up, spread the word and support the research, you can help save lives.
I am proud to announce that I have once again taken on a
leadership role with the American Heart Association, sitting on the New York
City Go Red for Women Executive Leadership Team.
The American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement
is the trusted, passionate, relevant force for change to eradicate heart
disease and stroke in women all over the world. Heart disease in the No. 1
killer of women, yet 80% of all incidences are preventable by making healthy
lifestyle choices. As a disease that in most cases can be prevented, Go Red for
Women is committed to ensuring women are represented in research, have access
to healthy lifestyle education, and feel empowered to advocate for their health.
Since its inception in 2004, Go Red for Women has raised
$600 million to support research, education, advocacy, prevention, and
awareness programs, and about 90,000 fewer women are dying from heart disease
and stroke each year, compared to the year 2000. While the hurdles we’ve
overcome are worth celebrating, there are many more challenges that are taking
loved ones from us every single day. Heart disease remains the largest health
threat to both women and men.
This is why I am passionate about supporting Go Red for
Women’s important work. Everyone has a reason for “Going Red” with the goal of
keeping themselves and their loved ones healthy. I Go Red in honor of my dad
and my mother-in-law. I hope you will stand alongside me and consider
supporting this cause by making a donation to help me reach my personal goal of
$5,000. Your support will save lives!
