About Go Red For Women
Roughly 35 women die each day from cardiovascular disease and stroke in the New York City area. Approximately 80% of these deaths are preventable with awareness and simple lifestyle choices.
Launched in 2004, Go Red For Women is a year-round movement that harnesses the energy, passion, and power women have to band together to collectively wipe out heart disease. In NYC, the Go Red For Women Movement culminates with a celebratory luncheon bringing together 1,200 influential women and men from the corporate, philanthropic, fashion, and medical communities.
About STEM Goes Red
By 2018, eight million science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) jobs will be available in the United States, but most United States students will be unprepared to fill these careers. Moreover, only 3 out of 100 female bachelors students continue to work in STEM fields after graduating. As a science-based organization, the largest cardiovascular disease and stroke research funder after the federal government, and the broker between academic institutions, industry, and healthcare systems, the American Heart Association | American Stroke Association is committed to moving these fields forward.
STEM Goes Red Experience
We are building a brighter future, stopping heart disease before it starts, and paving the way to healthier communities. Innovation and big thinking takes young, emerging students committed to making change happen. Join us for an inspiring, day-long event to empower local, high school girls to explore STEM outside the classroom. They will gain first-hand experience, connect with inspiring leaders, and will walk away knowing they can make an impact through a career in STEM and become a collective force for health in their communities.
