The 2011 New York City Heart Ball will be held on Monday, June 6th at the Grand Hyatt New York. The Heart Ball recognizes individual and corporations that have made an impact in the fight against heart disease and stroke. This year’s theme is a Tribute to Heart and Stroke Heroes: Help, Heal, Hope.
The Heart Ball is the premier event of the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association. The Heart Ball is in its 96th year and has a long tradition of offering an elegant, sophisticated evening that attracts world-renowned business leaders, physicians, professionals, philanthropists and other prominent community members who help us raise critically-needed funds to support the Association’s lifesaving research, education and community-based initiatives.
The New York City Heart Ball celebrates and honors cardiovascular and neurovascular physicians, corporations, researchers and scientists for their work in saving and improving lives. It offers guests an opportunity to thank these pioneering leaders whose work advances the field of medicine and translates these advances into practice every day. This year, we are pleased to honor Samin K. Sharma, MD, Director of the Cath Lab & Intervention, Zena and Michael A. Weiner Professor of Medicine, Co-Director of Cardiovascular Institute at Mount Sinai Medical Center; the Achievement in Cardiovascular Science and Medicine award and E. Sander Connolly Jr. MD, Bennett M Stein Professor of Neurological Surgery, Vice Chairman of Neurosurgery of Columbia University Medical Center will be honored for the Stroke Spotlight Award. Clive A. Meanwell, MD, PhD, Chairman and CEO of The Medicines Company, will be this year’s Event Chair. Additionally, extraordinary every day citizens will be recognized for their efforts to help, to heal and inspire hope.
